'New Faces'

The concept of beauty is usually discussed within the wider consideration of aesthetics. In an historical context, the English philosopher Bernard Bosanquet defined aesthetics as the “philosophy of the beautiful”. Greek philosophers developed early theories of beauty, with Plato arguing that beauty exists by itself beyond space and time; that it is based on unity, regularity and simplicity and have metaphysical properties of proportion, symmetry and harmony.

The following images seek to consider what our notions of beauty might be in contemporary society? These girls are ‘New Faces’ girls that the the fashion industry considers to have ‘potential’ and by this very notion deems to be quintessentially beautiful.
